Oogcontact van station Amsterdam Centraal naar station Utrecht Centraal
We verloren elkaar uit het oog in station Utrecht Centraal
Deze flirt vond plaats op 31 Mei 2009
You said: "I'm sorry. I don't speak Dutch."
Sunday, May 31, 2009, around 22:45 at Utrecht Centraal.
The platform for tracks 14 and 15 was closed. People were sent out of the train on track 15, because there had been some kind of fire. There was smoke on the platform. People who went down to the platform later were sent back up to the station hall. One could still smell the smoke there.
There was some confusion about what where to go and how to travel further from here. There was an NS man telling about some detour, but I hadn't heard for what destination that was. I asked you, rather small girl with blond hair, what route the man was talking about. You said: "I'm sorry. I don't speak Dutch."
Well, I do, but I couldn't be of much help, either, I believe. I said I would help you, if I could. You had to travel to Ede - Wageningen, the train that would have left from track 14. You ansered you have a hard time travelling when announcements are only made in Dutch.
After some minutes, the next train to Eindhoven was announced on the board for platform 14. You had spoken about possibly travelling a part of your trip by bus, but still didn't know where to go from here. I told you about the big message board in the hall, I couldn't see, but you knew where to find it. You went there and looked back, in some kind of small desperation. We wished each other luck.
I didn't come with you, because, at that moment, I thought you would find your way from the message board. Apparently, you had been able to find the platform for your train before.
Later, I realised that your look might have shown this desperation and that you may have had a hard time finding your way to go. I felt like I had deserted you. Perhaps I could have been of any help if there were other announcements, made in Dutch.
I hope you have been able to find your way home. I would like to hear so (or if not). I want to apologize if indeed you felt this desparation because of my lack of persistence to help you. I'm sorry. I would have liked to be with you for some more time, because you seemed a very nice person to me.
Kind regards, Dutch guy with a bike
